ELC Club - Profile
The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of the college is a flagship initiative under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program of the Election Commission of India. The ELC aims to educate students about the electoral process, democratic values, and the importance of voting, especially targeting first-time voters.
Vision:
To build a generation of informed, responsible, and proactive citizens who uphold the principles of democracy and actively participate in electoral processes.
Objectives:
· To spread awareness about electoral rights and responsibilities.
· To equip students with knowledge about the electoral process, including voter registration and ethical voting.
· To foster informed and active participation in democracy.
· To create youth ambassadors for voter literacy in their communities.
Major Activities:
· Voter Registration Drives on campus, especially for first-time voters.
· Awareness Campaigns on National Voters’ Day (25th January) and Constitution Day (26th November).
· Quizzes, Debates, Slogan Writing, and Poster Competitions on themes like democracy, voting, and electoral ethics.
· Rallies, Street Plays, and Flash Mobs to promote ethical voting in local communities.
