Consumer Club - Profile
The Consumer Club at the college serves as an awareness-building platform that educates students about consumer rights, responsibilities, and redressal mechanisms. The club is a student-driven initiative aimed at empowering future citizens to make informed decisions, identify unethical trade practices, and actively participate in the consumer movement in India.
Vision:
To build a generation of informed, responsible, and empowered consumers who can uphold fairness and transparency in the market.
Objectives:
· To spread awareness about consumer rights, the Consumer Protection Act, and related government schemes.
· To educate students on safe and sustainable consumption practices.
· To promote the use of consumer helplines, redressal forums, and legal tools for grievance resolution.
· To encourage students to act as "Consumer Soldiers" in their communities.
Major Activities:
· Consumer Awareness Campaigns on campus and in nearby communities.
· Workshops and Seminars on topics such as product labelling, misleading advertisements, cyber fraud, and online shopping ethics.
· Essay, Quiz & Poster Competitions on National Consumer Day (24th December).
· Field Visits to consumer courts, retail outlets, or quality testing labs.
· Digital Literacy Drives for informed e-commerce usage and protection from digital scams.
